Exercise, Food, Schedules and Bipolar

I recently discovered I may be slightly bipolar…something very hard to come to grips with. My therapist friend told me that one thing that I am already doing is regularly exercising. I can only imagine what I would be like if I wasn’t! I was advised to make a schedule, for everything, luckily I work for myself and I can make my own schedule. It was suggested to me that if I scheduled everything, when to go to sleep, when to wake up, when to walk the dogs, when to eat, when to work and when to workout it would help me immensely.

I can tell you that it has! If you are already eating a certain size meal at a certain time everyday because you are disciplined and workout atleast 5 times per week you already a step in the right direction!

I try to follow my schedule as best as I can and it helps. You do need to realize that it’s ok to be a few minutes off and not to flip out if you don’t have a granola bar in your hands at exactly 3:45 or you’re not doing pull ups at 5:20. The schedule is meant to help you, not rule your life or imprison you.

So if you have a mood disorder, make a schedule, eat right and eat often and exercise as much as possible!
